2011 – July – SEOID 11

Celebration Drinks – Saturday 16th July 4-6pm

Pronounced “showed ”, Seoid is the Irish word for jewel or precious object and the name of this touring exhibition of Ireland’s emerging and established jewellery designers.

As small as Ireland is in its geographical context, it is truly bursting with design talent. This exhibition showcases the expression, individuality and true inventiveness of Ireland’s jewellery talents.

Each of the designers has a very different and original approach to jewellery design. Each looks to very different sources of inspiration, and so display their own very distinctive style. Yet one common element in their design languages is in relation to the innovative ways they incorporate alternative materials. Hand-made papers, exotic veneers, glass, plastics, felt and organic material are to mention just a few examples.

This fresh and innovative incorporation of materials and colour in jewellery will provide a spectacular showcase of each designer’s individual talent and a vibrant visual impact on a gallery space.

The exhibition combines both emerging and established makers, providing an interesting and dynamic mix of age and experience.
