Interruptible States Torzillo

Recognisable silhouettes are cut and formed into networks – vulnerable to movement and daily use. Just as the negative space around an object defines its edge, Torzillo asks how personal connections and separations shape our sense of self. Since her relocation to the Netherlands, she has encountered a new relationship to proximity and distance. The new work offers as many disconnections as familiar forms in this continuation of Torzillo’s study of memory, function and identity.

“I continue to explore the edges of objects and how these everyday things are markers, which anchor our memories and perhaps our sense of self. How many details can change before we’re telling ourselves a different story?” – Judith Torzillo
