These ebony earrings have been hand-carved with a ridged corrugated pattern – One of a series of just four pairs of earrings hand-carved from discarded ebony piano keys. Ebony is such a beautiful wood to work with. These piano keys were gifted by a piano repairer who’d heard that I valued reusing existing materials. Each pair of earrings was meticulously hand-carved with a repetitive pattern but also allowing the freedom of the process to dictate the outcome so that there are slight nuances between each one. Sanded and polished to a soft burnish, they’re finished off with sterling silver hooks at the top of the ebony element. These elegant earrings will stand the test of time.
