The Repairing of Contemporary Jewellery

Does a piece in your contemporary jewellery collection need repairs? I’ve received a couple of enquiries recently about whether I can repair jewellery by other contemporary jewellers. I think the best approach is that as a first step, you attempt to contact the contemporary jewellery artist, either by reaching out to the gallery where the piece was bought, or through the Artist’s website if they have one. I know that if there was a piece of mine that needed some extra attention, I’d appreciated being contacted. If you’re struggling to get in touch with the artist, feel free to reach out as I may be able to help find details through my networks.

If you’re unable to find the jeweller, or they’re not able to repair the work then I’m more than happy to have a conversation about what could be done. As a contemporary jeweller, I’ve been trained to work with and understand various processes and materials that a traditional jeweller may not be exposed to and am sensitive to maintaining the integrity of the original artistic concept and design where possible.

Here’s an example of a work by Kobi Bosshard (a NZ jeweller), tp be repaired here in Sydney so that it can be worn again by it’s collector. Thank you Manon van Kouswijk for recommending me 🙂
